Here's a quick recap of my 29 hour journey to Berlin...
I left my house in Seattle on Wednesday morning at 5:00am. Got on flight to Philadelphia with no problems. Once in Philly, I was flying standby to Frankfurt and the first flight was fully booked. No luck for me - didn't make the list to get on. The next flight to Frankfurt was in two hours and my chances were looking pretty slim. Here's the plane that showed me no love...
So, I started looking into my other options...I could fly into Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels, or Zurich. All of the flights were fully booked as well due to some bad weather the night before. As I waited for the flight to Munich, my chances kept dwindling as each late passenger they paged eventually showed up...until, the very last guy...he didn't make it in time, so his loss was my gain!!!
After an 8hr flight to Munich, my next challenge was to get on a train to Berlin. No sweat! I made it to the city center and main rail station, got my German Rail Pass validated and was off to Berlin - this was a 6hr trip with one connection in Nuremberg. Of course I had to have a beer while traveling on the Deutch Bahn!
Once in Berlin, I took a local train to Aleanderplatz and then the subway to my final destination. I checked into the Hostel, walked into the room, threw my bag down and took off my shoes. And, like clockwork, Sean walked in shortly after me...holy shit what amazing timing! Now he's telling me to stop typing so we can go get a beer or 4...Prost!
